Health advice on heart burn -

Heartburns are caused, due to stress, improper dietary habits and excessive junk. Fasting increases acidity, thereby resulting in heartburns. This in turn triggers acidity.

Over-the-counter antacids are helpful. Peroxide blockers are recommended, prior to a meal. Lifestyle changes like avoidance of smoking and eating right helps in treating heartburn.

Salads of radish, peppers, cabbage and onion are avoided. Eating small frequent meals help. Ripe pectin fruits like apple are helpful. Bananas are effective against heartburn and acidity. Sucking on a piece of clove provides immediate relief from heartburns. Fresh mint juice after meals proves beneficial. A glass of cold milk provides immediate relief to heartburn. Acid reflux is prevented by sitting upright, thereby preventing the regurgitation. Avoid using water beds, as it results in regurgitation of food contents. Sleep an hour after dinner. Bedtime snacks are better avoided. Reduce the abdominal fat, as it prevents food contents from moving up. A bedtime dosage of antacid is helpful. Acidic and spicy foods are better avoided. Try to reduce the intake of caffeinated beverages.  Pumpkin juice in an empty stomach decreases acid secretion. Place your head on an elevated level, while sleeping.
