Questions on lumbar spondylosis

This is a fairly common condition involving the degeneration and potential deformity of the vertebrae.  Particularly in the lower back (lumbar) over time, pressure (and gravity) will compress the vertebrae (and often the spinal nerves too.)  Sometimes the intervertebral cushion (disks) may become squished (a non-technical term!) and herniated.  The vertebrae may also develop little bone spurs called osteophytes due to the uneven pressure.  Although less common, this condition can develop in other areas of the spine.  The cervical area is the upper portion of the spine in the neck and shoulder region.  http://www.countrydoc.com
