Cures for Jock Itch
Jock itch is one of the most common fungal infections among men and affects the groin and upper thighs. Medically it is referred to as tinea cruris and belongs to the tinea group of fungal skin infections. These infections are caused by dermatophytes, which comprise of different types of mold like fungi.
Microscopic fungi and bacteria thrive on all our bodies and these would include dermatophytes. Like most other fungi they thrive in moist and warm conditions, so when the groins get sweaty and are not dried thoroughly they are provided with the perfect environment in which to multiply and thrive.
Jock itch, like most other tinea infections, does not pose any serious risk but is extremely annoying.
This particular infection can also be extremely embarrassing, but can be treated quite effectively at home. Self care, lifestyle changes, and natural treatments need to be used to effectively treat the condition. Any effort at eradication of a dermal fungal infection requires the highest possible levels of hygiene, and cleansing with soaps is an important part of our daily ritual. Your concern is well founded as most commercially available soaps do contain harsh chemicals that would affect the sensitive skin. A lavender honey soap would do wonders for your skin but you need to be sure that the product you speak of is hundred percent pure and natural. If it is completely natural there is nothing you need to worry about.
Lavender essential oil possesses significant health benefits for the skin and most of these derive from it's antiseptic and antifungal properties. Apart from being completely safe it should therefore also help alleviate your problem. Lavender oil is in fact used to treat various skin conditions and inflammations. Honey too does posses a variety of health benefits owing to its antioxidant properties and the fact that it works as a natural antimicrobial, antibacterial and antifungal agent. Moreover honey also is rich in nutritional value with a high content of vitamins and minerals.
You must keep in mind however that the soap you use is just one concern. Thorough cleansing needs to be followed up with the application of strong and natural antifungal treatments. In addition to cleansing the area you need to ensure that it is keep completely dry. A hair dryer on the minimal heat setting can help. Apply antifungal powders, particularly before donning your undergarments. Make sure you only use clean cotton underwear and make it a point to change as soon as you get sweaty. Never stay in sweaty clothes and undergarments. Garlic is also an antifungal agent and you can use garlic slices or a paste against the infection.
