The symptoms you describe indicate that you may have an 'Otitis media' infection. The infection affects the middle area of the ear and is caused by bacteria lining the cells of the Eustachian tube which causes the formation of thick mucus causing it to get clogged. The Eustachian tube is responsible for maintaining pressure on both sides of the ear drum and when this gets clogged it results in the ear feeling blocked. This has happened because the cold infection has spread to the Eustachian tube which is connects the nose to the ear.
