Constipation Remedies

What kind of juice should i give my six year old to help her constipation? She is taking a prescription laxative right now and has been since Tuesday morning, it does not seem to be helping yet.

Food for Constipation

Constipation is directly linked to the diet and to the lifestyle that you lead. If your daughter eats a diet made up entirely of food that contains white flour then it is little wonder that she is constipated. You should first of all increase her intake of fluids.

Give her water at periodic intervals. Fruit juices should be given too. You should give her orange juice containing pulp, apple juice, and pineapple juice.

Give her well cooked rice. Don't feed her bakery products like biscuits buns, pies, cakes. If you want to give her bread opt for the healthier options which contain a variety of grains. Give her a bowl of hearty vegetable soup. Avoid giving her meat of any kind till she is over her constipation. Give her a bowl of yogurt with every meal. A spoonful of radish juice at bedtime will work wonders.

Since regular exercise is integral to good health you should get her to run and play in the evenings. At bedtime give her a cup of warm milk with a small knob of butter in it. Ensure that the butter melts in the milk before she drinks it. Give her a glass of warm water first thing in the morning and then follow this with a cup of warm milk.
