Red circular marks on the body could be due to a number of reasons ranging from a rash, insect bites and hives to vascular inflammations, macular stains or port wine stains. Check for insect bites which are small red circular marks which are slightly raised. If you haven't been bitten by an insect the next possibility could be hives, which are red, itchy bumps on the skin caused due to allergies to a certain drug or food.
The allergen makes the body release certain chemicals which causes the skin to swell up in hives. Apart from this, the next most common explanation for a red mark on the body could be a rash or psoriasis. If you suspect a rash or other skin ailment, consult a dermatologist for a diagnosis and proper treatment.
Another reason for red circular marks on the body is macular stains, which are basically birthmarks originating in the blood vessels. They could appear in the form of small spots on the forehead and eyelids, known as angel's kisses, which disappear after the age of two years. The other marks, known as stork bites, appear on the back of the neck and last through out life. There is no treatment for macular stains. Port wine stains, caused due to abnormal development of the capillaries, appear on the face, trunk, arms and legs as small red or purplish marks and last through out life. They are related to and often observed as symptoms of other ailments such as glaucoma, Sturge-Weber Syndrome or Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome.
