Cold sore treatment
According to scientific study, one of the most important amino acids for the body that cannot be made in the body is lysine. Lysine has been known to be highly effective in the treatment of cold sores. Although lysine can be obtained from meats, milk, eggs and cheese it is necessary to take added supplements during an attack of cold sores.
Supplements containing lysine is known to cut down the span of the sores.
Further to consuming lysine in the form of supplements, ointments containing the essential amino acid are also useful as a topical application over the sores. Another application is lemon balm.
Lemon balm also known as Melissa officinalis has medicinal properties. Searchers claiming that the balm if used on regularly is bound to diminish the rate of cold sore reversions.
Eating a good amount of red grapes is also an effective method to combat cold sores. This is because a compound found in red grapes, known as Resveratrol, has been shown to be dynamic against the herpes simplex virus in clinical studies.
