Cervical spondylosis home remedies

Cervical Spondylosis can be caused by neck or back injury, bad posture, improper lifting of weights that strains the muscles, stress and strain caused from sitting for long periods of time. Bad eating habits and lack of exercise also leads to cervical spondylosis, especially due to weakening of the muscles. There are several home remedies for this spondylosis. With professions getting increasingly sedentary in nature and people spending entire days hunched in front of the computer, it is extremely crucial to monitor the posture while sitting and ensure that soft-cushioned seats are not being used. In addition, they should change their position ever few hours and also take a break and stand up ever few hours to allow the muscles to relax. They can also perform same basic exercises at their desk itself – some basic exercises to loosen the joint muscles by moving the wrists and neck up and down, clockwise and anti-clockwise and also folding and unfolding the fingers. Apart from this, walking, cycling and swimming as well as yoga help in strengthening the spinal muscles and delay the process of deterioration. It is also important to sleep on a firm mattress with the knees bent towards the torso. If possible they should try and avoid using a pillow, but they must, then opt for a thin pillow.

Apart from this, a few dietary practices should be changed – patients should eat four meals a day, rich in proteins, Vitamin C and Vitamin D, calcium and phosphorus. They should have plenty of milk, salad of raw vegetables such as tomato, carrot, cabbage, lettuce and radish, as well as a lot of steamed vegetables. Spicy and fried foods should be avoided, as should sour yoghurt, sweets, sugar and tea and coffee. Finally for relief from the pain, a mild oil massage to the neck, shoulders and back provides much relief.
