Home treatment for dry and itchy skin

One of the most basic reasons for dry skin is the lack of moisture. What happens is that we usually get used to heating that is turned on high and in our eagerness to be warm and comfortable, forget all about providing our skin with essential moisture. When your skin does not get sufficient amount of moisture, then it turns dry and often itches.

However, dry skin shares several symptoms with skin ailments like eczema so if you notice dry skin that itches very badly, you should visit a doctor.

Keeping your skin moisturized in important and you can try several easy remedies to do this. You can use some warm oil to massage the dry skin.

To ensure that your skin stays moisturized, add some oil based bath salts to your bath water. However remember to only bathe in lukewarm water. Even if it is very tempting to use very hot water, this can be very bad for your skin. Always pat yourself but let your skin remain a little damp. Always apply your cream or moisturizes on the damp skin. If your skin itches very badly, then take some cold milk in a bowl. Dip a soft cloth or a clean cotton swab in the milk and use this to bathe the irritated areas of your skin. Avoid wearing clothes that are too tight.
